Privacy Policy

How Hachther collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use the MeSomb website and services.

Last updated: November 1, 2026

Who is responsible for your data?

MeSomb is a product of HACHTHER SARL, a company established in Cameroon. Hachther is responsible for the processing described in this policy. For personal data requests, contact contact@hachther.com, addressed to management, which is responsible for these matters.

This policy covers mesomb.com, MeSomb accounts and services, support and initiatives hosted on the website, including the MeSomb Developer Challenge. When a merchant uses MeSomb to receive a payment, its own privacy policy also explains how it uses its customers’ data.

What information do we collect?

Depending on the services you use, we collect your name and contact details, email address, phone number, account information and business information. Identity verification may require an identity document, a business registration document and a personal or business unique identification number.

Payments and wallets generate information such as the amount, currency, payer or recipient’s number, reference, date, status and payment operator. We process the information needed to execute and track these operations.

We may also receive your support requests, messages and attachments, and technical data such as IP address, browser, device, pages viewed, navigation events and security logs. Never send your Mobile Money PIN, password or secret keys through chat or a contact form.

For the challenge, data may include registration and team details, projects, links, submitted evidence, votes and email addresses used to verify them. Project and ranking information intended for publication is presented in the relevant screens.

Why do we use this information?

We use data to create and manage accounts, verify partners’ identities, process payments, provide wallets and APIs, track operations, answer requests and manage challenge registrations, reminders and voting.

It also helps us secure our services, prevent fraud and abuse, diagnose incidents, measure website use, improve our services and, according to your choices and applicable rules, send marketing communications.

Depending on the processing, we rely on providing the requested service, applicable legal obligations, security and the management of our business within permitted limits, or your consent where required. Required information is identified when collected; without it, some requests or operations cannot be processed.

Cookies, analytics and assistance

The website uses cookies or storage mechanisms for certain functions, including the challenge session and theme preference. You can manage cookies and storage through your browser; blocking them may prevent some features from working.

Google Analytics is integrated for audience measurement when configured. Esauti, a system operated by Hachther, tracks user journeys and supports usage analysis and marketing. These tools may process technical identifiers and navigation events. Their processing remains subject to applicable notice and consent requirements.

Akilio, an assistant also operated by Hachther, may process messages you send and navigation context to assist you. You can choose not to use it and contact us by email instead. Do not include secret credentials or unsolicited sensitive documents in a conversation.

Who receives the data?

Access is limited to authorized Hachther personnel and providers needed to deliver the service, including hosting, email, analytics and support. Data needed for payments is shared with the relevant operators, including MTN Mobile Money and Orange Money, and the merchant or recipient involved in the operation.

Vote verification emails and challenge reminders are delivered through email services used by Hachther. Addresses collected to verify a vote are not automatically subscribed to marketing communications; subscribing to challenge reminders covers the reminders requested.

We may disclose information to competent authorities following a formal, justified request or where applicable rules require it. An operator, merchant or third-party service may also process certain data under its own responsibility.

Where is data hosted?

MeSomb’s main infrastructure uses AWS Lightsail and S3 in the Paris region, France. Some data is therefore processed outside Cameroon. Third-party services, including email and Google Analytics, may also process data in other countries.

Where processing involves an international transfer, the applicable transfer conditions must be met. Using a hosting or cloud provider does not, by itself, mean all data stays in a single country.

How long do we keep it?

Retention depends on the information and its purpose. Account data is used throughout the partner relationship. Hachther applies a retention period of at least ten years from validation for approved KYC records; some information may be retained longer while the relationship remains active or where an applicable obligation or dispute requires it.

Transaction data is retained to track operations, support accounting, prevent fraud and meet applicable obligations. Support requests, technical logs and analytics data are kept according to the processing, security and follow-up needs of each tool.

Challenge data supports participation, vote verification, results and the handling of potential disputes. Deletion requests are assessed against these needs and applicable obligations. Deleting an account therefore does not necessarily result in immediate deletion of all supporting records and history.

How do we protect it?

Hachther uses technical and organizational measures to restrict access, secure communications, monitor incidents and protect systems. Access rights are assigned according to each person’s role and needs.

No system guarantees absolute security. If you suspect unauthorized access or a data disclosure, contact us promptly without sending passwords or secret keys.

What rights and choices do you have?

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction or deletion of your data, and exercise rights to object or other rights recognized in your situation. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it for the future. Cameroon’s Law No. 2024/017 of December 23, 2024 relating to personal data protection is part of the applicable framework.

Send your request to contact@hachther.com, identifying the account or service and what you are requesting. We may proportionately verify your identity before disclosing or changing information. Retention obligations may limit deletion; we will explain the reasons where that applies.

You can use the unsubscribe link in relevant messages, where provided, to stop optional communications. This does not stop messages needed to operate or secure your account. You may also contact the competent authority through the procedures provided by applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We update this page as our services or practices change. The date at the top shows the latest update. Material changes will be communicated appropriately and, where necessary, we will ask for consent again.
